Soirée lunaire, Fondation Carmignac, île de Porquerolles
Dressed entirely in red, two presences inhabit the premises. At the heart of the exhibition spaces, a motorcyclist wanders, contemplates, rests and poses. In the gardens, a fencer prepares for combat, breaking up the space with her codified gestures. Gradually, a test is organized through a mirror of water, replaying the mythical relationship of the sailor attracted by the mermaid. In this inverted face-off, movement becomes a cryptogram, to be imitated or deciphered. In a performance designed specifically for the architecture of the Fondation Carmignac, Anna Chirescu and Grégoire Schaller shape an encounter that plays with temporality, blending immemorial time with anticipation of the future. As part of the exhibition, they continue their transdisciplinary research into the deconstruction of archetypal figures, questioning notions of memory, gender, language and transmission.
